Common sense prevails;Despite Richard Warman’s war on the right to be stupid

May 4, 2010

And thank god for that…

I posted on this a while back about…

…self described  human rights advocate/ law-suit-instigator extraordinaire, Richard Warman (god-bless his heart) has  unleashed his paternalistic self-righteousness,yet again .

His target this time ,  anonymous commentators, specifically those that comment  on web sites that he has a particular “fondness” for.

In a nut shell Warman wants the state to pass a law, which would  force website owners/administrators (without first having to show cause) to disclose the names and IP addresses of those who would dare say bad/rude things about others,in particular himself.

Remember we are talking  about comments here, not actions.  Comments made  during on-line conversations & debates. Usually on personal blogs & websites discussing political & social issues, subjects that can very easily go from passionate (but respectable) debate to juvenile name calling. Jeez…welcome to life…@

Anyway as the title implies Richard Warman has lost yet another “case”…

The targets of  his latest suit, Connie &  Mark Fournier of Free Dominion -a one stop talk shop for all your bigotry needs, will not have to disclose the ISP’s & e-mail addresses of  the eight anonymous commentators who posted comments that Warman did not like.

The idea that Warman , a lawyer who should know better, would even launch such a suit defies common sense. On top of it all, Richard Warman’s actions have given ‘Free Domain’ much more publicity than they deserve,or that the site would have ever gotten otherwise.

Perhaps Mr Warman over looked the adage…’any publicity good or bad is better than none’ ?  Then again maybe that’s the point publicity, albeit for himself ?

That said ,we all know which side is having the last laugh now yet again…

Way-to-go Richard for helping to boost   ‘Free Dominion’s’ credibility & visibility. Just like you  did for Marc Lemire &  ‘Freedomsite.org’ ,in-fact just 7 short months ago.

The boy’s on a roll…

The shadow of politics

January 26, 2010

I asked my self the same question every so often ,indeed as do some of my family & friends. Why do I spend so much time talking about politics ?  Particularly when the by-product is more often than not, irritation and or frustration.

I usually reply, well how can you not be interested in politics, its everything, its why the world is, the way it is ?

The inevitable retort goes something like this, yeah perhaps, but what can you do about it,how can one person change anything ? Why waste your time ?

Anyway to make a short story shorter. I happened across the following quote by  John Dewey ;American social philosopher (1859-1952). He states : politics will remain…

the shadow cast on society by big business[and] the attenuation of the shadow will not change the substance

Wow so true…shit am I just piss’n in the wind ?

Even worse,  am I  a mere reflection of the very people for whom I have little respect or patience ?  That is,  corporate media pundits, assorted lackeys and hangers on. In short modern day courtiers.

Yikes…

Look at the tyranny of party — at what is called party allegiance, party loyalty — a snare invented by designing men for selfish purposes — and which turns voters into chattles, slaves, rabbits, and all the while their masters, and they themselves are shouting rubbish about liberty, independence, freedom of opinion, freedom of speech, honestly unconscious of the fantastic contradiction; and forgetting or ignoring that their fathers and the churches shouted the same blasphemies a generation earlier when they were closing their doors against the hunted slave, beating his handful of humane defenders with Bible texts and billies, and pocketing the insults and licking the shoes of his Southern master.

The reality is…

April 10, 2009

…that I don’t have the time to keep this website up the way I want to or had envisioned.Since  first being seduced, summer of 2005,by the then relatively new & exciting world of blogging.

The idea is one thing, the reality is another.

That said I have decided to take a (continue my) break, until and if,I figure out exactly what it is that I want to write about.

Let’s face it regurgitating daily news and events is just plain boring. Done within the notion of the left/right political,progressive/conservative social divide, mind numbingly boring.

Indeed why did I even play….write from the heart they always say,a kind of  jouissance .If not why bother ?

Damn I love fiddle music, maybe I will learn to play ?

Be still my heart…

I think I am in love, and with a blog of all thing. But before you say dude that’s fucked up,check it out for yourself.

So much for blog awards, tis the season, yawn.

Definitely not the place to go if one is looking for a good blog worthy of one’s time.In fact the better the blog the more likely the writer of said blog would say, thanks but no thanks…

Blog awards are for losers, sorry I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings, but….

There is nothing quite so sad & pathetic,as a blogger, begging for votes.

Tis the season…
